Call me crazy, or maybe it is just the fact that the homework hasn't
piled on yet, but I want to get STUG going with a major project in the
next week. I'll try and spell out my ideas as quickly as possible.

Basically, I want to make several, very short, videos that have
different information that would be useful for future and current
tablet users at Speed School. I'm not talking about a Hollywood
production here. This is more along the lines of a webcam + YouTube
type deal wish some editing. It won't look like it was done by
professionals but it will look respectable.

I'm thinking topics can include: recommendations on buying a tablet,
instructions on how to set up wireless on Vista, how to download and
install Office/Maple and other software packages. It could also
simply have different models of tablets showcased with pros and cons.
It would also be easy to do DyKnow and OneNote tutorials.

Now I know I'm a little crazy to attempt this project but it could
actually be very successful with only a few hours of work each week.

The technical part of this isn't a major problem. There is plenty of
resources for making things like this. When you add in the fact that
YouTube is free, this doesn't even require any upfront cost. The
biggest thing to get going would be a website, which Travis would be
able to provide through Council. (Travis, thank you in advance.)

This is a very doable project that could hopefully put on a very
positive front to the Tablet Initiative. I really hope everyone can
respond to this email with at least a few thoughts on the subject.
I'm probably going to keep playing with this idea during my free time
and will try and keep everyone up to date. I'd really like to have at
least a pilot episode that we can show to people within a few weeks.

I think this sounds good.

However, before you do something about how to buy a tablet, you need to get updated information. Speed faculty are considering changing things from last year and IT Store may be involved and there will be better support etc. The details are being worked out now.

So, just don't do that part first. As soon as I have finalized information, I will get it to you.

I would think that one on using your tablet to do EAC homework would be fitting, given our upcoming rollout of the template. Little things such as making straight lines in Journal, etc... would provide enough content for a decent cast, I would think.

Oh, and your welcome for the webspace :P.

If there is anyway that I could help from far away, let me know.  I don't have the piles of homework to keep me busy this semester.
