I ordered a "Sig Kiwi" from Sig Mfg last week.  It arrived yesterday (Fri) from Des Plaines, IL (after Hazel died, the company moved from Montezuma, IA, to Des Plaines).

We were speculating about whether this "Kiwi" was the same as the KwikFly III.  Here is the label on the end of the box, s I received it:

Good info, Phil. What motor and battery combo are you planning to use?

Kiwi is a totally different bird. I gave Ray K. The kit I had. Kiwi was a 40 size bird.

That was the OLD kiwi. SIG is using the name on this new ARF.

There’s a long thread here on RCGroups.

More here.

I have one on the way also.   Plan on outfitting it to receiver ready status and using it as the raffle prize at the Cullman contest.

I plan to talk to you about that, Jim...  😄

I had one I bought from Gator RC. First flight was great. Second had a receiver failure leading to a high speed vertical impact with terra firma. Sigh.

What Rx, Jeff?  I have had a 2.4 Gh  Rx failure or 3 over the years.  At least one of them was a Spektrum unit, never crashed until my KAOS hit the road beside KCRC...

How was yours powered?

BTW, that's ONE (the only?) advantage of living where snow happens once in a while, along with cold.  I can honestly say I have never crashed an aerial vehicle during Dec., Jan, or Feb.  March through November is another case, however!  I did fly once on January 1 in Indiana -- it got up to 41 degrees for a few minutes around 3:00pm that day.  😊

Power was a Badass 570 like I use on my Curare. Rx was a Futaba unit. Had a problem with it on another plane, but everything checked out ok. Foolish me. Lasted for 1 1/2 flights. The Rx was lost in the tall grass as I surveyed the ruins. Just as well.

Jeff,
I had a turbine with a Futaba radio go nuts. Managed to get it back and sent the receiver to Futaba. Sure enough it failed range and function tests. They replaced the receiver antennas and all was OK. Jon Britt was a Futaba sponsored pilot back when he flew pattern. I talked to him and he said the Futaba receiver antenna can be damaged. He said when he was competing he regularly changed them as part of his radio maintenance.
