Hi Jamie, this model (they call it "Taipan") ARF came out last year, and because Jim Feldmann's Ultra Sport came out in 1989 it is ( I think!) SPA legal, in keeping with the 35 year rule.

As far as their photos, the main photo and a couple of the detail photos are ones that I took and can be found in a build thread I did on RC Groups a couple of years ago for the Balsa Workbench short kit: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?4288709-Ultra-Sport-60-from-Balsa-Workbench-short-kit  They just straight-up "borrowed" the photos and the colors/scheme. Some other ARF manufacturer also produced the "Taipan" some years before.

The Motion RC/VQ version didn't get good reviews initially, but it disappeared for a while and maybe they've addressed some of the concerns.

All I know is that the Balsa Workbench US60 (from RCM plans) that I built flies great!

I just looked at this plane -- it looks really good.  I have bought a lot of planes, heli's and "stuff" from Motion, and everything is great and as advertised.  They are good to deal with.

 

Will this airplane be SPA legal???

Per our current policy anything that "looks like" a pattern plane pre -1992 would be considered legal. We need all the members/competitors/planes we can get!
