Hello hello, and I hope some of you lurkers will come by another Radio Mondays!
Tonight at 8, open to all, we will be discussing low power radio. There are a number of technologies specially adapted to the needs of mobile, short-range, or small objects that need remote communication. We'll discuss the major brands and systems, and how the field affects us as users, and more concretely, what it means for two of our long-term projects that will intersect with this gear, the CRASH-UAV project, and the SmartScanner.
Bluetooth, Zigbee, ANT, UWB, Z-Wave, 6lowpan, DASH7 all exist in a muddy area of tiny radios and special purposes. We'll try to pick apart their strengths and weaknesses, and see which ones we want to look at further.
