Yes!!! SMAC, Ltd is now a legal entity. IRS certification as a 501(c)
(3) is still pending, but the State of Maryland has now finally got
around to incorporating the organization as a legal entity. The first
$5000 of contributions can legitimately be claimed as charitable
contributions for tax purposes, even before IRS certification.

I'll be working on a lot of tasks:
--initial fundraising, seed money
--obtain federal tax ID and 501(c)(3) certification
--assmble a board of directors/trustees
--obtain a proper web address and hosting of a site that can serve as
a community of interested persons
--letterhead, business cards, cell phone service, e-fax number

Then, seek out grants/contributions to open an office. I'm thinking a
small office in walking distance of the Rockville Metro station would
be ideal.

Ideas and efforts for building the movement are certainly welcome.
