A copy of the e-mail that has been circulating:

This is a sad story of a very beautiful, and innocent girl who unfortunately had to face a very bad accident in her life; she is Nilakshi Sewwandi, age 24 years from Sri Lanka, Happily married with a cute little baby of less than one year, they live in Karama and her husband is the bread winner of this family and Nilakshi is a full time housewife.

Everything was going fine for this lovely family until one fine day when she was reaching for something in her kitchen fridge, there was some drainage acid at home which they had been keeping on top of the fridge because she was scared that the baby might get a hold of it, if it was left down, so she had left it on top of the fridge, and this day she had gone to the kitchen to prepare food for her baby when she opened the fridge accidently the ACID which was on top of the fridge had fallen all over her from her head to her face and then to her Chest, she had screamed out to her husband who was with the baby at that time, few neighbors had come over and called 999, and the paramedics had come over in 15 minutes, but then already it was too late for Nilakshi, the Acid had got in to her skin and reached her bones. And scard her for life.

She was rushed to the Rashid hospital Burn section ward 23 Room #5.

They are still treating her, but the poor girl is disfigured with no hair on her head at all, and her own baby doesn’t recognize her any more, she was breast feeding her baby and now she had to stop this too because of the accident, but the poor baby doesn’t know this and he keeps looking for his mom. She’s been treated in the hospital by the doctors and hospital staff very well, but poor Nilakshi’s husband is now finding it difficult to make ends meet, the Hospital bill keep rising daily as her treatments increase, they need to pay AED 150/- for the room per day plus all the medications. Now it’s been almost 2 weeks Nilakshi is in hospital and as per the doctors she will have to be there much longer until she is fully recovered.

If we can all help this innocent girl and her family it will surely be a blessing, her husband is a normal driver and his monthly salary cannot make ends meet. They didn’t ask for this to happen to them, but unfortunately it did, but who are we to question GOD, god has a reason for all actions, and all we can do is have more trust in him in times like this.

If we all can get together and contribute something in a small way for this family to help this girl, it will be a big relief and help for them. This can happen to any of us at any given time, so let’s be generous and lend a helping hand to this girl and her family to get out of this difficult situation they are in.

Anyone can visit Nilakshi in Rashid Hospital Burn ward 23 room #5 or contact her husband Prasad On 055-8912789 for any contributions and visits.

Once again have a heart and help this Girl, she needs all the help right now.

Please find a few pictures of Nilakshi during happier times with her family and another picture of her after the unfortunate accident.

Regards,
