URGENT! Calls Needed Now

Just a few days after 20 demonstrations at Senators' offices across the country in support of Medicare for All, we learned that Senator Sanders' Single-Payer Amendment No. 2837 will be debated and voted as soon as today!

Amendment No. 2837 would extend healthcare as a basic human right to all. Sens. Brown, Burris, and Sanders, the three original sponsors of the amendment, understand that the American people need access to care that is not dependent on wealth or level of private insurance coverage.

Make sure your Senators hear from you in support of this important vote. It sets historic precedence for the future of the movement for improved Medicare for All.

Call your Senators. Tell them you want them to vote for Senators Sanders, Burris and Brown's amendment number 2837. Call today. Call now. Insist on a vote for moral and fiscal sanity.

To call and find a script, go here. It's easy and toll free! Or, if you know your Senators, call the Capitol Switchboard at 866-338-1015. To email your Senators, go here (sorry, if you signed this before, you can't sign it again).

This is it, Medicare for All, single-payer advocates.  Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced last night that today the Senate will hear several more amendments to the health reform bill - and one of those amendments is Sen. Bernie Sanders' single-payer amendment No. 2837.  The amendment also has two other original co-sponsors, Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio and Sen. Roland Burris of Illinois.

We need you to fax or call the phone numbers below now.  Click here to fax for free.

We never knew if we'd get to this point.  And it is your work and your passion that got the single-payer effort this far.  Let's send this message as loudly and clearly as we can.

So, in a historic turn of events, single-payer healthcare will finally be heard by this Congress.  Single-payer is a wonderful idea from the left - public financing - combined with a terrific idea from the right - private delivery, and put together in one common sense plan for all.  One single standard of high quality healthcare - everybody in, nobody out.

Our effort is needed one more time - we need to let Senator Reid know we are pleased the Senate will hear the amendment, but we must also ask our Senators to vote in favor of it.  The numbers for phoning are:

Make the calls to Sen. Harry Reid and your U.S. Senators :
    Washington, D.C., office: (202) 224-3542
Las Vegas, NV, office: (702) 388-5020
    U.S. Capitol Switchboard: (202) 224-3121

We need a massive outpouring of faxes and phone calls to the office of Harry Reid, who is the key to getting a vote on Sen. Sanders' amendment.  Click here to send your fax now to your Senators and to Sen. Reid urging a vote on SA 2837, the Sanders single payer amendment.

Then call the offices of your Senators (numbers here).
Then call the office of Sen. Reid (202) 224-3542 to ask him to allow floor debate and a vote on SA 2837.
