| “Hollywood and the Paranormal” TOMORROW in East Lyme  Tomorrow, December 4th, at 7:00 pm we will be presenting a special program called “Hollywood and the Paranormal” at the East Lyme Public Library, 39 Society Rd. Niantic, CT (Click For A Map) which is free and open to the public.
There are many parts of Hollywood and the Paranormal that are sure to surprise people, but perhaps one of the most that interests audiences is how different films that claim to be “based on a true story” actually are from the occurrences that inspired them. We look forward to seeing people at the program, and welcome your questions and comments – even if you can’t attend in person. We will also be posting our slideshow presentation, and an overview of the program, here on our website following the event. With December 21, 2012, now looming right on the horizon not a day goes by that we don’t get asked several times “are we really all doomed?” And if people weren’t worried enough as is, this week there are several new 2012 shows premiering on television which are sure to make people panic even more. So, let’s start the month off by making a few important things clear. There isn’t a culture on the planet that believes 2012 is going to be the end of the world. None of them say that, and even the most famous of 2012 claims associated with the Mayan Calendar does not mark “the end of time” it marks “the beginning of the next cycle.” Do these cultures talk of great changes… even, perhaps, “cataclysmic events?” Yes, that is true. Most do discuss that 2012 and the time leading up to, and immediately following, the date of December 21, 2012, will be a time of “great change.” With that said… those who subscribe to the true-nature of the 2012 claims believe that these “changes” have been occurring for at least the last three years, but only now are people associating them with the 2012 craze. For example, it is documented that natural disasters and weather phenomena has been increasing to extremes recently. At the same time, especially in the United States, we are WAY over due for a major earthquake, and while there’s not any way to really predict these events in advance, scientists are on edge feeling it could be “any day now.” Over the next month (or 21 days of it anyway) we will be highlighting many of these, and other, parts of what have become the 2012 hype. We will be hosting online chats here on our website on Sundays (and are looking at adding a few addition weekday chats as well). We are going to be posting some articles, resources, and links to information on the 2012 mystery. And, we will be encouraging and inviting your own comments and questions on our Discuss @ SGRA Message Board topic dedicated just to talking aboutDecember 21, 2012. These meetings are a chance for new people to learn more about our organization and our ongoing activities, meet other members and likeminded people, as well as learn a little bit as each meeting include a "training session" which details a topic of our work.
