From The Editor… Let’s face it… things have been getting weirder. So weird, in fact, that it’s been hard for our staff to keep up with everything. It seems that as soon as we post an update, some breaking news about more strangeness comes in within hours. But rather than filling inboxes with multiple messages each week we’ve decided to start a new feature for Friday’s called our “Weekly Weird Report.” In these emails you’ll find short news bits about strange topics that have wound up on our desk during the previous week. If you come across some weird news you think should make it in here, email us at sg...@sgra.org and tell us about it! “Orb” UFOs Spotted Over Connecticut Sunday… This story broke on Tuesday when we were contacted by the editor of a local paper regarding news of strange lights seen in the sky over Woodbury, Connecticut. As we began to dig deeper we found that indeed lights were seen by at least two witnesses in the evening hours of Sunday, July 29th… but Woodbury wasn’t the only spot. So far we have spoken with witnesses who had similar sightings to report, except they were located in West Haven and Stratford, Connecticut – both shoreline towns roughly 40 miles from Woodbury. So now the question becomes: What was in the sky over Woodbury… and elsewhere that night? | Another “Montauk Monster” Washes Up In NYC… Who can forget the odd carcass of… “some kind of animal”… that washed up on a Montauk, Long Island (New York) beach a few years back? News of the creepy creature spread through the Internet and soon made it to mainstream media like CNN, FoxNews, and MSNBC. Although there was speculation about what it may have been, its identity was never determined, as the remains mysteriously vanished from the beach in what looked oddly like a very controlled cleanup. So soon everyone decided it was just a fluke, but like a TV sales commercial we have to say… “But wait… there’s more!” That’s right, on July 25th another mysterious, unidentifiable, carcass was discovered in New York City – they’re moving closer to population! Reported in an article in the NY Daily News, local animal experts are stumped. Being called the “East River Monster” this … THING … is pretty weird looking for sure. The Parks Department claimed the creature was nothing more than a “discarded cooked pig” … Really? A cooked pig? That’s what you come up with? But alas, once again it’s a mystery that will never be solved because in this case the Parks Department decided it wasn’t worth hanging on to, and tossed it out with the trash. So next time you’re walking the beaches, keep an eye out because if this is what these things look like when they’re dead, I don’t want to see one alive!
| Pilot Near Miss With UFO – Air Traffic Controllers Not Surprised At All… When a pilot reports a UFO – especially a near-miss with one – researchers tend to pay closer attention. The latest recorded incident happened as a pilot was while flying into Kansas City International Airport on Monday night and saw a strange object, complete with lights and a “saucer shape,” buzz by his aircraft. And when asked for comment by reporters, everyone was a little surprised to hear that this wasn’t the first time such a thing had happened at the Kansas City Airport… in fact, there were more reported UFO sightings there than any other city last year. Can you imagine that conversation? Pilot: “Um, we just got buzzed by a strange object, with lights, and looking like a ‘flying saucer’ “ Controller: “Oh yea, don’t mind them. Carry on. Nothing to see here.” | In this first issue of our “Weekly Weird Report” we’ve kept it short. But in future issues you can expect to see many more stories, including links back to content available on our – and other – websites covering these topics. And as always we welcome you to help this feature grow by sending us links or text to strange news you come across in your weekly browsing online. You can email us anytime at sg...@sgra.org. If submitting a news story or clipping, please make sure to include the date the article was published and the source that it came from so we can provide a link back for our viewers. |
