| Back To The Old…In the last update we mentioned that there had been some viewing issues mentioned to us having to do with the way we were formatting the Newslinks. It seemed that some people were receiving an email with image attachments, rather than text, and it had become difficult to read. Based on feedback, we’ve decided to revert back to the old way of producing our email updates, so we hope this will fix any issues experienced. As always, feel free to email us at mailto: sg...@sgra.org if you have any questions or troubles! New Discuss @ SGRA Message Boards LIVE… We are very happy to announce that our brand-new Discuss@SGRA Message Boards are now LIVE on our website! These boards are open to anyone who would like to join in the conversation about paranormal phenomena, unexplained mysteries, psychic abilities, metaphysics, and other great topics. They are easy to use and access and we invite people to share their opinions, stories, and comments. To get started you only need to register once, and that is a very simple thing to do! Just visit http://www.sgra.org/boards/or click on the “Discuss@SGRA” Message Boards link found inter the “SGRA Interact” menu on our homepage. Anyone can view the boards, however you must be registered in order to begin participating in discussions or even start your own! If you’re not familiar with how a Message Board works, don’t worry, it’s as simple as writing an email! We have posted simple instructions on to boards themselves, or you can contact us by email and we’ll be happy to send you instructions as well. This Week @ SGRA
| We hope everyone enjoyed their Memorial Day weekend, and once again, thank you to all our SGRA Members and Friends who served in the military! This week we have our final Coffee Talk of May as we discuss Ley Lines, mysterious alignments energy circling the globe on which ancient sites are almost all found to be built on. Today, there is a belief that ley lines are "lines of power" linking prehistoric sites. Ley lines have been associated with UFO sightings, they have been thought to follow cosmic lines of energy in the earth, and some people believe that they can be detected by a method called dowsing, which is done using dowsing rods. Coffee Talk is Wednesday starting at 7:00pm. They are open to anyone! There is a $5.00 Suggested Donation |
| This Friday, June 1, from 7pm – 9pm will be our next First-Friday Members Night at SGRA. This is an evening exclusively for SGRA Members new and old to come together, enjoy great discussions and snacks, and learn a little about one another. We will also discuss upcoming members-only events that are not made public on our website and emails, new benefits and discounts available to members, and more! We do invite SGRA Members to bring your family and friends who may want to learn about SGRA. And anyone signing up as a new member will receive a $5.00 discount, PLUS the member who brought them to SGRA receives $5.00 SGRA Bucks to be used anywhere within SGRA they want! |
Paranormal Explorer Club Kicks Off Next Week
| We have been talking about it, working with the ideas, and putting it together for nearly two months now, and we are very excited to announce that our Paranormal Explorer’s Club kicks off on Tuesday, June 5, at SGRA! This exclusive club is open to anyone ages 7 – 17 who is interested in learning about and | taking part in workshops, discussions, and events hosted by SGRA. Our club activities will feature the same great information that is given during adult classes, but will be specially geared towards younger audiences as well as involve activities that have been designed just for them! In addition, the Paranormal Explorer’s Club will offer opportunities for kids to help plan and produce future Club events, volunteer at SGRA community events such as our UFO Day, Open House events, and more. And be active participants in the SGRA (plus get some really cool Club-exclusive items!). There are a few options for participation in the club. Kids can sign up for a three-month membership stretching from June through September, which will cover all Club workshops and activities, as well as include a Paranormal Explorer’s Club T-Shirt – which we will be decorating at a later event – all for a one-time charge of only $30.00. Others can participate in Club activities individually, which will range from $5.00 - $15.00 depending on materials cost. For more information on the Club, participation, or cost, please feel free to contact us anytime! | Community Library Programs Begin In June! This month we will be returning to our regular lineup of Community Library Programs throughout Connecticut. It starts with the next of our “History’s Mysteries” series at the Torrington Library on Thursday, June 21, as we discuss “Ancient Astronaut Theory.” Thanks to the hit TV series “Ancient Aliens” that has been airing on the History2 Channel, this is a subject that has become a popular topic even | | more now than it used to be. We are excited to present this program and discuss some of the interesting theories and support that has been presented for the possibility that ancient civilizations may have had regular encounters with alien beings. During this program we will not only present the leading theories, but will also share some of the more recent findings that have been presented for consideration by those who support the possibilities. We are also going to relate it back to some local stories from Native American tribes in our area that have legends of “Sky People” interacting with their cultures. The second program we have coming up this month is on Tuesday, June 26 at the Scranton Library in Madison and is our popular “Things DO Go Bump In The Night” presentation about ghosts, monsters, and other strange stories of creatures lurking in the dark. Are these all just folklore, or is there something more to them? We’ll be discussing how our researchers look into these stories, and how our Field Team actually investigates local claims. We will also have a Q&A session and a hands-on demonstration of equipment we use in the field. |
