Hey Everyone
Just a quick update. The Alvord dates are changing to July 19th through July 26th. That’s one week later than originally planned due to heavy military flight exercises scheduled to take place during the original timeframe. We still have registration slots available so come out and spend a week or even part of the week with us at our annual Alvord Safari in beautiful southeastern Oregon. Here’s a link to our registration form. https://forms.gle/4pVZxHYuwUMSYnJV9

Hi Everyone

The Willamette Valley Soaring Club will be holding our 2025 Alvord Safari this year from Saturday, July 12th through Saturday, July 19th. Come and enjoy a week of soaring at our desert encampment on the Alvord Desert dry lake bed. If you’re not familiar with our club’s annual safari, have a look at this short video for an introduction:  https://watch.opb.org/video/oregon-field-guide-alvord-gliders/

This trip provides the opportunity for auto-tow launch experience and endorsement. Unlike a winch launch, gliders are launched using a 4000 foot long wire pulled by an automobile. This method is very successful and also very economical at only $15 per tow. The Alvord dry lake bed in July offers some of the best soaring conditions in the Northwest. Please contact me if you have questions at the email address below. Here’s a link to our registration form. https://forms.gle/4pVZxHYuwUMSYnJV9
