Hello,

Jim Simmons was not only a member of the Seattle Glider Council, but also one of its pillars.  He provided thousands of hours behind the scenes to help keep the SGC running smoothly, in addition to spending as much time helping others to fly as a tow pilot and mentor cross country pilots.  Jim was also a very accomplished cross country glider pilot, flying the Grob Astir, the Speed Astir, an LS4 and a Nimbus 3 over his days of chasing dust devils in the plateaus and mountains of Washington and the surrounding areas.

On Sunday, July 14th at 2pm, we will honor Jim's contributions as a friend, mentor, and all around great person at Ephrata airport with an ash drop.  Part of Jim will fly again and be part of the winds and sky as he spreads across the air, mingling with the dust devils.

This event is not a formal one, but it will be attended by his immediate family members.  All are welcome to join us to see Jim off.

Additionally, tows will be available on Saturday, July 13th and Sunday, July 14th.  Please, be sure to sign yourself up on SignUp Genius if you plan on flying and need a tow.

Happy Landings,
Jim Dobberfuhl
