7th Annual Human Diginity and Health Science Conference:

Held at UIC, this conference will examine the ethics of advanced technology applied to the end of life. The many facets of death are explored by leading practitioners and ethicists including: the mystery of death, determining the moment of death, partial brain death, telling truth to the dying, euthanasia, ordinary and extraordinary means to prolong life, allowing a person to die, proxy consent, persistent vegetative state and advanced dementia, pain and dying, and palliative hospice care.

New Pregnancy Center Map!

Students for Life of Illinois now has an interactive pregnancy center map. This  Google powered map will help expectant mothers find the help they need and it will help students find volunteer opportunities!

See the new map here.

National Mother's Day Baby Shower

The National Mother's Day Baby Shower is designed to raise much needed resources for crisis pregnancy centers and homes for unwed mothers.

Please consider organizing a baby shower for your region, school, or church and help bring much needed resources to your local crisis pregnancy center.

Criminalizing Coercion…

A new law in Missouri would make it illegal to use any means of coercion pressuring a woman to obtain an abortion. It would also require that an ultrasound image of the unborn child be offered to the mother in case she might want to see her child.

Supposedly, the bill would require clinics to inform women that the unborn child may feel pain, as well as display signs reading something such as "There are many public and private agencies willing and able to help you carry your child to term, and to assist you and your child after your child is born."

This sounds like it would be something a pro-choicer would want, since it allows women to make a free choice about their pregnancy rather than perhaps feel they must abort their baby. For some reason however, this bill is receiving some opposition. More...
