Every two years, each Assembly District elects 14 delegates to the California Democratic Party. These delegates help decide the official Democratic Party endorsements for elected officials, ballot propositions, and the party platform. The process to elect these delegates is called ADEM. These elected delegates can set the course of the California Democratic Party, and they're elected in extremely low-turnout elections – sometimes by only a few dozen votes!
As YIMBYs, we can help shape the policies of the California Democratic Party by registering and voting in the ADEM elections. Anyone who is a registered Democrat in California is eligible to request a ballot.
Here's the process:
- Step 1: Register here before noon on Friday, January 31st in order to request a ballot.
- Step 2: After registering, fill out our optional tracker so we can remind you to vote.
- Step 3: Look for a special login code mailed from CADEM via USPS in February. Sign in and vote before Sunday, February 23rd.
- Step 4: Keep an eye out for another email from me, telling you who to vote for
