The Saturday, September 10, 2022 General Meeting of the Science Fiction Association of Bergen County will be held at Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 765 Route 17 South, Paramus, New Jersey 07652 (201) 445 - 4589 at 7:30 PM. We will be on the second floor outside the event room. Our October meeting will also be held at this venue. Author / editor Alex Shvartsman will speak and answer questions about Science Fiction in Translation. We will likely go to the Suburban Diner after the meeting.
Pre Meeting Event: Ice Nine Discussion:
Early arrivals are welcome to browse the store, or they may join our 6:30 PM Ice Nine Discussion of the Coolest News & Happenings in the worlds of science fiction, fantasy, and related areas. Come talk about books, movies, television, comic books, and so on, whether old, new, famous, or obscure.
Alex Shvartsman, Editor / Translator:
Association member Alex Shvartsman is a Ukrainian expatriate who has long been active in the translation of science fiction and fantasy from the Ukraine and Russia. He is the editor of FUTURE SCIENCE FICTION DIGEST, a periodical devoted to translated sf/fantasy, and is the co-editor (with Tarryn Thomas) of THE ROSETTA ARCHIVE: NOTABLE SPECULATIVE SHORT FICTION IN TRANSLATION. Alex is also the author of over 100 published short stories, two novels, a couple of collections, and is the editor of over a dozen original and reprint anthologies.

ABOUT THE ASSOCIATION:
Meetings of the Association are normally held on the second Saturday of the month and feature talks, slide shows, and other presentations by experts in science fiction, fantasy, and related fields. The Association sponsors online Google and FaceBook discussion groups and a number of in-person and online activities devoted to various aspects of science fiction and similar matters, including events focused on books, movies, television, science, and similar areas of interest. We also produce a monthly newsletter listing talks, conventions, discussion groups, and other activities pertaining to science fiction and kindred genres.
