Hi Y'all,

My heart is breaking as I witness the ongoing and unparalleled destruction in Gaza. If yours is as well. a way to do something is supporting the essential work of the Middle East Children's Alliance (MECA).

I will be participating in MECA's Ride for Palestine on Sunday, July 21, 2024. This 14-mile roundtrip ride along the bayshore from Berkeley to Richmond raises funds to support MECA's critical programs bringing food, medical aid and educational and psychological assistance to the people of Gaza.

Be part of the solution! Please donate what you can to my fundraising effort. Here’s a link to the page to donate. There’s also a QR code below.

I’d super appreciate it if you'd spread the word to others who are concerned about what’s happening in Gaza.

Blessings,
Susala

Hi Susala,

I gave a tiny amount. But am not teaching this summer and things are very tight. Curious about this ride however. I'm a cyclist. I already have plans that day (though they could change). And I dont think there is much time for fundraising but curious if additional cyclists are needed for this and other rides.

Also I remember your proposal for the sedar at ybca gardens many years ago and have thought of it several times. Hope you are well and would love to connect. This is my email and my instagram is @Alicia_Escott if thats a good way to keep intouch on mutual projects.

Warmly,

Alicia

I just want to say this is awesome.  I know Susala and can vouch for them doing amazingly cool things and so this is no surprise!

Thanks Zach. I raised over $1,000 and the Jewish voice for peace team I was on raised almost $20,000.

Have you heard anything about the grant you were applying for?

I'm still working on a plan to get the trike in my vehicle. I'm getting closer. I found somebody to design a police system and I had to buy a new car. Luckily I sold mine for almost exactly what I bought it for and got a really good deal on the new one.

Hope you're healthy and doing well,
Susala

Hey Susala,
super awesome to have raised that money for Palestine!  Woww!  I really like the name of your collective :P  I presume it's influenced by the Women's lib W.I.T.C.H. org?

Congrats on selling the car and getting a good deal so that you could sustain your new one.  It's always nice when that happens :)

no word yet back on the grant. I imagine it will be quite some time, possibly next year, if I hear anything. Lots of stuff to keep me busy in the meantime. Did you see my post on the Right 2 Repair stuff?

I hope you get your trike project finished.  I never heard back from my friend who has all the experience and tools for that 😕

Best wishes,
-Zach
