For the past few months I've been doing advocacy and technical work around the new
Right to Repair law in California (
SB244)
which just went into effect this month!
I had a major victory working with the manufacturer (Whill) for parts and repair information. While there were some road bumps, they were overall very cool and helpful. Of course, Right to Repair offered them some, let's just say, "legal incentivization"
to do the right thing :p
There's also an effort to strengthen Right to Repair for power wheelchairs right now in the CA Senate, so
please sign on if you wanna support that 🙂 Remember that any victory for Right to Repair is a victory for hackers, tinkerers, and makers over big corporate lobby firms to control our technology!
Best wishes,
