Does Washington currently have any state (or federal) tax incentives for the purchase of a new EV? Will any such allowance be available in 2027?

As near as I can tell we currently only have the extra cost of $225 a year added to your tabs to make up for lost fuel taxes (398 gallons of gas at the current WA tax rate of 56.5¢). We used to have a state sales tax break but I’m pretty sure that expired.

Thanks,
Paul G.

All State and Federal EV incentives have now disappeared for individuals. The last to expire was a Federal incentive for rural EVSE installations that ended June 30th.

For low-income people only: The Washington EV Instant Rebate Program offers rebates to residents for the purchase or lease of a qualified new or pre-owned EV. New EVs are eligible for a rebate of up to $9,000, and pre-owned EVs are eligible for a rebate of up to $2,500.

Sadly, that program appears to have ended. <https://www.commerce.wa.gov/clean-transportation/ev-instant-rebate/>
