to SETEG: Southeastern Traveling Exhibitions Group
Hello all!
This year's SEMC conference was a real blast. It was great for many
of us to finally meet each other in person and share ideas on
traveling exhibitions. I would like to thank those of you coming to
the NAME reception as well as the session "Traveling Exhibitions: The
Pros and Cons." For those of you who would like to see more about
that presentation, I will be placing the powerpoint presentation here
on the group page. This session, hosted by Mark Catton from Murphy
Catton, Charity Counts from the Childrens' Museum of Indianapolis, and
myself, provided insight to those looking to host traveling
exhibitions and/or create their own traveling exhibitions program
regardless of the size of their institution.
I have also placed some photographs from this year's conference. All
are combined into one pdf file:
Image 1: Charleston, WV by the Kanawah River.
Image 2: The Clay Center for the Arts, where a wonderful evening
reception was held.
Image 3: (from left to right) Mark Catton, Charity Counts and myself
after our presentation on "Traveling Exhibitions: The Pros and
Cons." (Thanks for all those who attended! Anyone who has any
questions on that presentation, let me know!)
Image 4: Brian Hicks from the DeSoto County Museum in Mississippi and
I in the Exhibitor's Hall.
Image 5: (from left to right) Makalah Brown (Walter Anderson Museum of
Art), Alexis Thompson (Historic Columbia Foundation), Megan Clark
(Museums of Oglebay Institute) and James Quint (Historic Columbia
Foundation) at the SERA evening reception at the Bears' Den.
I will also be placing a list of traveling exhibition resources for
those wanting to get more information on certain aspects of traveling
exhibitions. Those will be listed under the "Pages" section of this
site.
Finally, keep your eyes peeled for the next SETEG newsletter coming
soon!
