Subject: chin huat's answers to randy's 5 key issues

27 november 2006

dear all--

i am forwarding chin huat's answers to the 5 key issues we want to present in cebu next month. chin huat, i hope you don't mind that i am sharing your inputs to everyone else. by the way, thank you very much for responding promptly. i really appreciate this. george, i no longer asked you to do this because you already structured your two RTDs this way - outlining recent events that have helped expand or constrict spaces for advocacy as well as identifying key actors in indonesia and east timor. vannath, this is to give you a clearer idea of what randy and i have in mind. like i said, your answers need not be fully-fleshed out narratives. we just need information that can be used for a matrix-type structure to be presented in cebu. if everyone turns in country-specific information, we can at least create a matrix to show the 'state of democracy' or civil society advocacy space in the region at present.

hope all's well with all of you.

all the best,
marissa

hello marissa,

i am sorry for a delayed response - but as i said, i am quite busy with my
activity on the charter change and parties, with NDI.

i am now sending my answers to the "matrix". i hope you get this one ok.
my concern about the structure is that it somehow omits the texture and
flavour of the essay and the specific construction of the realities in a
society. however, i understand that for the asean activity, this is what
we could do so far....

best,

chiqui
