All,

There was mention that maybe we should have a website for the wiki (or
whatever documentation system we choose) other than the current
pbworks.com. I know that no one was strongly for or against changing in
our meeting.

But... if we get a domain name, I am more than willing to host it. It
is at dreamhost which has plenty of bandwith/space. I have been with
them long enough we wont break my bandwith/space limits. The reason I
mention it is at dreamhost is they have 1-click installers for several
packages. And many of the other packages have detailed instructions on
installation (either from dreamhost or their customer base).

I know that we are all overworked and sometimes under-appreciated. But
wanted to make the offer.

Thanks!

That's the $64,000 question: When can we get the domain name? I think seugls.com is still up for the taking, who's going to bite the bullet?

Whomever hosts the site should probably register the domain to make it easier. But if they use Paypal send me the link and I will contribute to the costs.

Someone at the event (forgot who, sorry!) mentioned that the last S in
SEUGLS stands for "summit" and we might want think about another name
if we make something more permanent, since the "meta-group" isn't
really the summit. We could call ourselves the South East User Group
Leaders User Group (SEUGLUG) and the event might be called the SEUGLUG
Summit. seuglug.com/.net/.org are all available if we wanted to go
with that.

Thoughts or suggestions?

I think it's a good idea. It's clear when we were discussing this we can't do this in the form of having sponsored meetings every year, eventually, some form of committee would materialize to organize SEUGLS and other related conferences.

A name other than SEUGLS is fine with me. I just think it sounds odd to
have "User Group" in the name twice. I know it makes sense.

I defer to the group to whatever name we come up with.

SEUGLUG (pronounced Soo-glug) does roll off the tongue, but I think it's a bit too much. How about... SEUGLC, Southeast User Group Leadership Committee? Or even Southeast User Group Leadership Consortium?

In an IM, Glen suggested SEUGLO for Southeast User Group Leaders
Organization, which so far is my favorite (after SEUGLUG - I still
feel like we'd be a user group). To me, Committee or Consortium
doesn't quite feel like what the group is, but that's just my opinion.

In the next day or so, I'll be sending a reminder email to all the
SEUGLS attendees with links to this group and the wiki, so hopefully
we'll get some more eyes, ears, and brains on this soon. :)

A quickie from GiveCamp Atlanta.

I'm looking for any user groups who want to be involved in GiveCamp Atlanta. I'm listing them on a page similar to the sponsors page.

I'm also looking for speakers to do intro level classes on their tech of choice in a series I'm calling "Intro To My Tech". This idea came up in one of the sessions at the summit. The idea was for user groups to each have a table to talk to interested folks and teach a one hour session on their technology. I'm extending the idea a bit to include the charities. I'm thinking especially of the Mac and PC groups here to do one hour (or possible more) sessions to help charities learn to admin their systems.

If you are interested in having your group listed (and thereby sign up to help run the event and get a table at the mini-expo) or want to submit a session for the "Intro To My Tech" please let me know.

I especially need help right now with recruiting developers, charities and sponsors. We have some of each, but need more. Microsoft is coordinating national sponsors including Dominoes Pizza, Coca-Cola and Green Mountain Coffee. We will get a cool Keurig single cup coffee machine (and plenty of coffee and tea) that we can use all weekend, then raffle off or give away to a charity!

My email is jef...@gmail.com

Thanks!
jeffa
