Dave Burley has died. The following was posted on his Facebook page.

It is with a heavy heart that I share that my dad, DavidBurley, passed away on April 11, 2026, at the age of 93.

My dad was hardworking, smart, and silly all at once—agolfer, master ice cream maker and cookie baker, a super Target and Costco dealfinder, and a dedicated genealogist. More recently, he became an email“blogger,” sharing reflections on the world and connecting them to history.

My mom was truly the love of his life. I’ve had strangerscome up to me when I was with them, after seeing how he cared for her, sharinghow clear it was how deeply they loved each other. I feel so lucky to have hadthem as a model for love.

My sisters and I were jokingly called “David’s Angels,” andI’m so thankful his angels—and our families—were able to surround him in hisfinal days. It brings comfort knowing that my mom & dad are together again.

Sad news. The pictures on his daughter's Facebook post are terrific. He was a good guy. I'll miss him.
