For those of you that do not already know, Brandon is a published
comics author. Jerwa secured his role as the author of the monthly GI
Joe title by contacting Devil's Due Publishing with the first script
he'd ever written. Soon after, Brandon was hired to write a four issue
story arc for the Joe spin-off title, "GI Joe: Front Line." In December
2003, Brandon was chosen as author of the monthly GI Joe title. That
run lasted 20 issues, after which the series was cancelled and
re-booted with a new writer. During this time, Jerwa also created
several tie-in comics and character "file cards" for the G.I. Joe toy
line.
Along the way, Brandon became the first author of a GI Joe title to
sell out an issue in 48 hours ("Master & Apprentice" #1). He then
repeated this feat with the main Joe series. A second "Master"
mini-series followed and Brandon put the cap on his GI Joe experience
with the critically-applauded "Snake-Eyes: Declassified" series.
Hasbro Toys rewarded Jerwa's loyalty to their franchise by casting his
likeness in plastic as the G.I. Joe figure called "Dragonsky." This
development led to Jerwa's appearance on the game show "I've Got A
Secret," fulfilling yet another goal - a national television
appearance.
Brandon now writes "Highlander" for Dynamite Entertainment; his work on
that title has catapulted him into writing for Dynamite's "Battlestar
Galactica" comic franchise, based on the hit TV show. Jerwa has also
been tapped to create a comic tie-in for a new electronic rap act
called "The Loyal Opposition" later this year.
