 GIS 101 Webinar: Data Preservation

Thursday  |  April 3  |  11:30 am - 12:30 pm ET

Join us for a GIS 101 webinar where we will be covering data preservation.

Data Preservation as a Legacy, discusses the preservation of digital geospatial data.  It describes how data preservation is not a given, why geospatial data is particularly vulnerable to degradation and loss, and describes how geospatial data teams can put into place strategies and procedures that will help to preserve geospatial data for the long term.

Denise Bleakly, GISP, is retired and worked at Sandia National Laboratories for 28 years.  Her most recent research centered on long-term geospatial data preservation for environmental databases.  She has given talks and lectures on geospatial data management plans, geospatial data archiving, and geospatial data preservation plans. Her retirement project is to continue giving presentations on the need to plan for geospatial data preservation to help preserve all of the geospatial data collected over the last 40 years.

This GIS 101 webinar is open to all

Presenter:

Denise Bleakly
