Where: Remote Training Site Warner Springs [34567 CA-79, Warner Spring, CA 92086]

What to wear: Hat, sunscreen, outdoor/hiking clothing, boots, chairs (optional)
What we’ll be doing: Quino Checkerspot Butterfly Habitat Enhancement
Invasive species are a major threat to local ecosystems, often outcompeting native plants and disrupting wildlife habitats. By removing these harmful plants and reintroducing native species, we aim to restore the ecological balance of the area, promote biodiversity, and improve pollinator habitat. In particular, we will restore habitat through removal of invasive plant species and planting container-grown native plants and wildflower seedings for the benefit of endangered Quino checkerspot butterflies (QCB) and other native pollinators. NBC’s Alex Whalen will provide an education brief describing QCB and their habitat requirements as well as how butterfly conservation helps to support the military mission.
Free parking and port-o-potties will be available. Tools, gloves, and other equipment will be provided, but if you have any favorite gardening implements, feel free to bring them.
