December 15, 2013 marked a transition point for the new chapter with a Farewell Mass and Reception at St. Anthony Spirituality Center. Check out the posts below including latest Press Releases.
So much has happened in a very short time! We are so grateful for the prayer and faithful resolve gathered and shared at three advisory gatherings (July, August and October) and here online. Continue your prayer and conversation and praise God for all the blessings received, especially through the love of the Capuchin Province of St. Joseph who have ended their ministry here after 95 years.

In May, 2013, the Capuchin community announced they can no longer continue their retreat ministry at St. Anthony's in Marathon, WI. Gifted people resolved to help write a "new chapter" to continue the story and ministries of St. Anthony's. In June we planned for three overnight meetings for prayer and conversation and adopted as our guiding motto a quote of St. Francis: "Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible." We gathered in July and a steering committee was formed who met with the Province treasurer. We gathered in August and the steering committee agreed on terms and agency to make a proposal to the Capuchin Province. In September negotiations with the Province continued and a new Board met with Bishop William Callahan, Diocese of La Crosse. We gathered in October and began the work of forming committees. Agreements with the Province were finalized--see announcement in the letter posted below from Fr. Dan Crosby, OFM, Cap. and Joe Breaman, president of the New Board of Directors. In November the good news continued being shared and through December the Board of Directors was hard at work choosing personnel and preparing for 2014, including the December newsletter (click here to read)
