For Immediate Release: May 18, 2012 More Information Contact: Margaret Tyler (907) 266-2694 margare...@alaska.gov Yakutia Airlines to Begin Seasonal Service July 12, 2012 Anchorage, AK – Yakutia Airlines announced that final approval has been received from the US and Russian governments to operate passenger and cargo service between the Eastern Russia city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Anchorage, Alaska. Scheduled service will begin on July 12, 2102 and will run weekly through September 13, 2012, utilizing Boeing 737-700 aircraft. The flight time is approximately 4.5 hours. Tickets are to be available beginning May 18, 2012 through most global distribution systems, the AirRussia.US sales network, and Yakutia Airlines' representative in the US, InterPacific Aviation and Marketing. The Alaska International Airport System (AIAS) - comprised of Ted Stevens Anchorage and Fairbanks International Airports - is home to over 30 international and domestic airlines providing passenger and cargo service throughout Alaska, the United States, Europe, and Asia. AIAS is an extraordinary economic engine; serving nearly 6 million passengers per year and accounting for 1 in 10 jobs in Anchorage and 1 in 20 jobs in Fairbanks.
