Hi Cuban Salseros in Edinburgh

In this email, we're celebrating the growth of Cuban classes and events in Edinburgh. Cuban teachers and organisers are working to keep the Edinburgh Cuban scene friendly and welcoming to everyone as we expand. The result is this flurry of information for you that shows all the places you can have Cuban fun and learning. Please let me know of things that I've missed. 

This is the home email list for Malecon Matinee and Rueda Club. But I am happy to send out new info here as I have in the past, plus this kind of compendium of everything Cuban I get told about occasionally. Please take note because I don't intend to do this full set every time. Note that there are now several weekly night clubs that give more Cuban than not! Wowee!
Cantina on Sundays with Romina and Piera; 
New on Tuesdays, (see below) Sagi (and open deck for Cuban DJs) with Martes Cubana at City Cafe
Harry's Bar on Wednesdays with Keith is a nice venue that is more and more Cuban in the contra tiempo music (I gave him my Son list!)
Plus Hector at El Barrio just now features more Cuban teaching and music in his classes and Salsa nights than usual.
Plus you've got less frequent events like the Latin Cruise, Malecon Matinee and Sonora la Calle coming up too!!   Hasta pronto!!

LILY's Cuban Salsa Classes, Mondays at The City Cafe Bar, 19 Blair Street, Edinburgh, £6
Lily starts her Monday Cuban Casino and Rueda style classes with a free salsa class intro at 6:30p till 7pm. Then:
Beginners: 7pm-8pm     Intermediate: 8-9pm

Lily has been dancing for 15 years and was fully trained at the National Arts School (ENA) in Cuba in all areas of dance from Ballet to Contemporary and Cuban styles like Rumba; Cha Cha Cha, Mambo, Son, Afro Cuban, Salsa, acrobatic, drama, music appreciation and Latin-American dances. She graduated with honours.  As a professional dancer Lily joined the Cuban Ballet Television company and performed regularly in musicals, music video clips, cabaret shows, live on Cuban television and in theatres including world tours with the company.  Lily is great example for those girls who want to obtain an elegant style of dancing, sensual and with a very good dance technique. Ladies, it is rare to have such an inspiring top class female Cuban teacher resident here. She speaks good English too! She hopes Mondays develop so that one of Edinburgh's Cuban men teachers will join her. 

SAGI's RUEDA CLASSES, Tuesdays, 8-10pm, Cruz, Leith (moving to City Cafe from 16th June on)
Sagi classes for only one more time. Nick takes first half 9th June. 9th June will be the last time at Cruz. From 16th June, Sagi's Rueda Classes move to City Cafe. See below.

ALEJANDRO: Cuban Son Classes, Wednesdays (10th June to 1st July), 7-9pm, Columcille Centre, Edinburgh, £6/£10

June 10th & 17th:  Beginners 7pm - 8pm, Improvers1 8pm - 9pm
June 24th & July 1st: Improvers1 7-8pm, Improvers2 8-9pm
All classes take place at the Columcille Centre, 2 Newbattle Terrace, Morningside (next to the Dominion Cinema)  £6 for 1 hour, £10 for 2 hours

Son Masterclass postponed.  Please note that we have postponed the masterclass for July 1st as the other Son teachers we hoped to work with weren’t available that evening. We will re-schedule once we’ve figured out a date with the other teachers."

NEW! MARTES CUBANA, Tuesdays (from 16th June), 10.30-1am, City Cafe, Edinburgh, Free
Sagi writes: "From 16th June I'll start the "Martes Cubana" Cuban Night in the City Cafe 10:30pm - 1am. After the Rueda Classes, I'll be playing 90% Cuban music - old, new, son etc. I'm hoping to get more Cuban music and hope to give an open deck for people to play their music as long as its Cuban. See how it will work."

LATIN SALSA CRUISE: Romina, Yamil and Lili, Sat 20th June, 8.30-11.30pm
Piera writes: "It's that time of year again when things start to HEAT UP!  This is Romina at Latin Explosion's 3rd year organising this All Fun, Picturesque  Latin Cruise on Forth Belle Cruise Boat.......still going strong!!!  Bringing Latin America to you!!! 

The line up for this summer includes all professional Latino dancers and teachers)

Latin Explosion and Forth Tours are making the salsa cruise easier to reach with the private Forth Belle coach, from Waverley Bridge to South Queensferry where the lively salsa rythms begin. MM always at 2.30-5.30pm (Sat or Sunday) with a 90min class from 1pm. Lazy Cuban afternoon fun with something to get everyone on the floor.  Beach Lane Social Club is behind Portobello Police Station. Park on or off the High Street.
