Hi Ruederos and Malecon Matinee Amigos

The big event coming up that you just can't miss is Salsa Cubana + Sonora la Calle  on 1st Aug. Get your tickets now! (By the way, there's lots in this email, but I'm not trying to give a complete picture of all Cuban in Edinburgh this time - it's upcoming things, and things I didn't put in before).

RUEDA CLUB, Fri 24th July, 7.30-9pm, Merlin, Edinburgh, £5/£9 Combo
Come along for this because there's no Merlin in August. Next Merlin/Rueda Club after this is Fri 25th Sept.

SALSA CUBANA + Sonora la Calle, Sat 1st Aug, 7pm-11pm, The Picture House, Lothian Road, £15
Live Cuban band Sonora la Calle direct from Santiago de Cuba will be playing live at this major salsa night in Edinburgh on Sat 01 Aug.  Tickets (£15) are on sale now, and the night includes salsa DJs and dance displays in addition to some of the best live Cuban salsa you will ever hear! LILY & YAMIL: Son Workshop, Sun 21st June, 1-2.30pm, Beach Lane Social Club, Portobello, £9
Lily and Yamil this time continuing our MM Son classes. Split class for different levels.

MALECON MATINEE, Sun 21st June, 2.30-5.30pm, Beach Lane Social Club, Portobello, £5 incl drinks
MM always at 2.30-5.30pm (Sat or Sunday) with a 90min class from 1pm. Lazy Cuban afternoon fun with something to get everyone on the floor.  Beach Lane Social Club is behind Portobello Police Station. Park on or off the High Street. MARTES CUBANA, Tuesdays, 8.30-10.30-1am, City Cafe, Edinburgh, Free
Great to see Lily, Yamil and Alejandro coming along on occasion to add a real Cuban touch to Sagi's Martes Cubana Club at City Cafe. Fab Cuban music in this atmospheric central city venue.

YAMIL & LILY: Cuban Salsa Classes, Thursdays/Wednesdays, El Barrio, Hanover St, £5
CUBA LIBRE, Thursdays, 10pm-12mn, El Barrio, Hanover St.
Haven't put this in with details properly before. Kath writes: "Yamil and Lily's Cuban salsa classes on Thursday nights in Edinburgh from 8-10pm are proving to be very popular and will be continuing until further notice.  There will also be continuing new beginner and rueda classes on Wednesdays at the same venue but at the earlier time of 6-8pm. At El Barrio, 47 Hanover Street, Edinburgh. £5 per class. 
Wednesday evenings RUEDA: 6-7pm beginners salsa; 7-8pm improvers RUEDA
Thursday evenings SALSA: 8-9pm elementary;  9-10pm improvers/intermediate.   Followed by Cuba Libre, 2 hours of non-stop Cuban salsa music!"

CALEDONIA: Santiago de Cuba, 5-19 Aug, Cuba.

A SALSA CEILIDH, Fri 9th Oct, Beach Lane Social Club, Portobello

If you like Nick's slow Salsa Ceilidh circle dances at Malecon Matinee, then you'll like this. It's actually a local campaign fund-raising event, but it's main feature will be Salsa Ceilidh. There will be lots of new locals taking part, so it would help if dancers can come to make it go with a swing, and so that they come back to "our" events in future. Bringing in new people like that is the main aim of Salsa Ceilidh.


MALECON MATINEE: 2010 Dates
Oh you have to plan ahead to make sure things go well! Dates (all are Sundays exc in Feb) for MM in 2010 are:
10th Jan, 13 Feb (Sat); 14 Mar; No Apr MM; 9 May; 13 June; 11 July; 15 Aug; 12 Sept; 10 Oct; 14 Nov; No Dec MM
