Long time no see! We hope you're looking forward to getting back to the fun of Malecon Matinee after our winter break. In case you've forgotten it, I've put in the info in full this time.

Sorry the timing keeps slipping around as we work out details with the venue for February and 2009. Think of Feb 15th being under old 2008 Sunday timings if that helps. Better read on with your diaries out to be sure you get it right! 

A lucky community connection in Portobello means  MM is likely to be mentioned in Outlook, the council's newspaper that goes through every door in Edinburgh! So it's even more worth reading now!

LILY & ALEJANDRO SON CLASS, 2-3.30pm, Sun 15th Feb, Beach Lane Social Club

Lily continues her great classes, Son never failing to be worth it. This year looks like we're going to have two Cubans teaching us - we hope that Alejandro this time, newly arrived to stay in Edinburgh, will join up with Lily to add to the fun and learning. We'll split the class as usual to look after beginners as well.

Monthly Malecon Matinee celebrates the lovely contra tiempo Son and Salsa that's not played much in Salsa clubs here. "Malecon" comes from the famous Havana sea front; and Salsa Celtica's song was about ours, El Portobello Malecon. "Matinee" because there's music and dance all day in Cuba. Variety will include Los Van Van, Rueda, and regular Salsa.  Cuban Ceilidh and 2 minute Merengue and Bachata classes to get everyone dancing! 

Beach Lane Social Club is behind Portobello Police Station. Park on or off the High Street. Lots of buses. £5 entry includes drinks. All proceeds saved for future MMs. For maps, click below to go to:

I am not producing new fliers before Feb 15th, so please note and spread the word (if it matters) that, if you come on Feb 15th for 3pm (as the fliers state), you will be a bit early - still you can come in anyway to get an extra half hour of fun for your £5!

MALECON MATINEE Future Dates, Always 2.30-5.30pm, Class at 1pm

In future (after February), the timing will "always" be MM at 2.30-5.30pm (whether Sat or Sunday) with a 90min class from 1pm. I will produce new fliers saying this for after Feb 15th.   

Times for MM for the rest of 2009 are still as announced before. Put them in your diaries now! All are Sundays except where stated; all are 2.30-5.30pm with class at 1pm):

Mar - 15th; Apr - No MM; 

May - Sat 23rd; June - 21st; July - No MM; 

Aug - Sat 15th; Sept - 20th; Oct - 18th; Nov - Sat 14th; Dec - No MM.
