Hi Ruederos and Malecon Matinee Amigos, and Salseros in SE Scotland

Some good Cuban things this month.

RUEDA CLUB & SALSA FRIDAY, Fri 13th March, 7.30-9pm-1am, Merlin, Edinburgh, £5/£9
Unusual Merlin pattern this month only. So remember that we have two Rueda Clubs in quick succession. There is not a Rueda Club at the end of March.

SON CLASS: Lily and Yamil, Sun 15th Mar, 1pm-2.30pm, Beach Lane Social Club, Portobello, £9
More Cuban male teachers arrive in town! This time Yamil helps Lily help us get the hang of that fabby Cuban Son and dance styling!

MALECON MATINEE, Sun 15th Mar, 2.30-5.30pm, Beach Lane Social Club, Portobello, £5 incl drinks
Whether MM is on a Sunday or a Saturday, the time is always 2.30-5.30pm now, with a Class before it at 1pm.  Guest DJ this time - Keith who plays more than the average Son on a Wednesday at Harry's Bar.

RUMBA CALIENTE, Sun 15th Mar, 7.30pm, Queens Hall, Edinburgh, £12/£10
The end of Rumba Caliente's tour. Kath writes: ‘Rumba Caliente are one of the UK’s most exciting salsa-soul groups. Led by Salsa Celtica’s Toby Shippey and featuring Lino Rocha and Ricardo Fernandez Pompa on lead vocals, the group have a unique Afro-Latin/Salsa-Soul sound. Combining musicians from the salsa heartlands (Venezuela,Cuba and New York) with some of Scotland’s most exciting jazz and world musicians Rumba Caliente move from salsa to soul, latin-jazz to funk, raga to rumba and back to salsa again’.  Excellent live band for salsa dancers of all levels.'  Tickets from www.thequeenshall.net

SALSA SUNDAY CUBAN WORKSHOP: Yamil, Lily & Kath, Sun 29th Mar, 6.30-8pm, Merlin, Edinburgh, £8 (incl club entry)
Although there's no Rueda Club at the next Salsa Sunday night (as usual), there is this very attractive alternative. Kath writes: Improve your Cuban styling and moves with professional Cuban dancers Yamil Ferrera from Santiago de Cuba and Lily Zequera from Havana. 6.30pm - 8pm, improvers/intermediate levels only.  The class will focus on Cuban rhythm, fluidity and the timing of turns and should have you dancing with more Cuban style by the end of the session!  £8 charge for the class also includes entry to the Merlin Salsa Sunday night afterwards. Email Kath on proj...@caledonialanguages.co.uk or call 07738 363553 if you have any questions and to book your place.
