to Rotary District 7020 Haiti updates, bra...@parkcityarchitect.com
My name is Kim Watkin and I am past president of the Park City Sunrise
Rotary Club in Utah and District Grants Chair of Rotary District 5420.
I understand that in your District 7020 leadership training in Miami,
a goal was established to address the overpopulation in the schools
and get the children back in school as soon as possible. I would like
to brief you on a project that a few clubs in our district have in the
works in hopes that we could collaborate with your team and align our
efforts.

A few clubs in Rotary District 5420 and a community partner (The Hope
Alliance) are formulating a project to rebuild a school/orphanage in
Coq Chante. This will be done by recycling the rubble waste material
of the fallen buildings into strong, earthquake resistant structures
made of rammed earth (a technique called SIREwall). Our vision is to
recruit the local labor force and train them on rebuilding the school/
orphanage with this rammed earth technology as well as achieve the
goal of providing the children a safe place to live and learn. This
building project addresses immediate needs as well as provides a
sustainable skill for the local people to help themselves rebuild in
years to come.

We would love to combine efforts with your team to achieve the common
goal of getting the children back in school in various communities.
We have limited funding for this project at this time but are
estimating that we may be able to raise $20,000.

Your response and comments are welcomed.
