Jay,

Thanks for sharing this with the group. I know you and the board have taken a great deal of heat on this. I hoped with the good weather, DNR had already contracted this out and work was in process. We are unlikely to attend the meeting as we're in Lincoln and work until 5/5:30, so an update on our site or DNRs would be great. We really miss the park. Rode at Genoa in Jan, they closed it in Feb for annual dredging, reopens just before Mem Day. Next closest place for us is Tuttle Creek and Milford Lake KS.

Even though it's state gov't, I assumed that something was being done since it's been 3 or so months, good weather, slow time for contractors, DNR losing revenue on permit sales, etc.

There has been progress since the closing. First a forestry inventory and forestry plan was completed. Second the required environmental review was completed. This includes federal requirements. We now will have the required public hearing on April 15. These steps are required by law when logging state lands. So we are right on track.

After the public meeting we will send out a bid to log. Then when the vendor is selected contract for tree removal. Then the area can be opened.

If we didn't follow this and one person is injured the place could be closed for good. Plus the club cannot manage this on their own. The people crying are not the ones doing the work.

We will get the park open as soon as possible.
