ALCON:
I have a broken Vizio LCD TV in my storage unit that I finally have to
admit I'll never fix or upcycle. Looking online the most common
failures of these TVs was the fluorescent backlight died; mine on the
other hand appears to light up fine, but has thin blue and sometimes
purple lines on the screen. I believe this is a symptom of a failed
logic board, but i didn't see any obvious burns on the board.
Anyone want the TV? I know consumer electronics are practically
disposable now, but I hate adding to the landfill or missing an
opportunity to learn something. Ideally, someone has a tv/monitor
with a burnt backlight we could fix. Or any Electrical Eng. or
optics pros know how to take common pieces of a LCD TV and make
something without killing ourselves on capacitors?
If someone could school me in proper multimeter diagnostics I'd be
happy to look into buying a replacement logic board and bring this TV
back to life.
If the space as a whole isn't interested then anyone on the mailing
list is welcome to it, otherwise, around memorial day i'll finally
have to throw it out
