Reverse Space 6PM to 11PM 4-18-2013 – Build, Create, Collaborate.

This week at Reverse Space will be printing using a water soluble support material called PVA (Polyvinyl Alcohol Filament). We will be using the MakerBot Replicator's dual extruder to print ABS filament on the left extruder while using the right extruder to print only the support using the PVA. This is quite important since last week we had a difficult time removing the support material for a design. When printing with PVA, all that is needed is to place the printed item in a water bath and the support dissolves away. The item we will be printing is called a Hilbert Cube. If we are able to print without any problems, we should be able to give away free cubes for people to take home. We will also be working making a case store and print PVA without exposing it to moisture, as it can quickly become too soft for the pulley to grip.
