Reverse Space – Build, Create, Collaborate. “LYMAN FILAMENT EXTRUDER II”

6-27-2013 6PM to 11PM Open. All are welcome!

We are looking for visionary thinkers to help us build the Lyman Filament Extruder. This is a game changer technology which allows people to make their own filament for their 3D printers for around 10% of the cost of buying filament using cheap industry standard pellets. With the invention of large format 3D printers, the material cost of printing huge life size creations is now financially possible with the reduced cost in materials. We bought the kit with all of the required equipment to assemble the filament extruder and have ABS pellets to use with the machine. Come by and join the group to build the filament extruder and be part of 3D printing history!

The inventor of the extruder Hugh Lyman won $40,000 in the Desktop Factory Competition in exchange for him to release the design to the open source community for anyone to use free of cost.

If you have any projects you are working on, feel free to bring it to Reverse Space! We have locked storage space, hundred of tools and electronics, and the largest sections of free to use 3D printers for any Makerspace (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hackerspace) on the east coast of the US. At this time membership is free.

Other projects we are working on below. Help is always needed.

NextEngine 3D Laser Scanner – Learning to get a perfect scan.

3D - “Rostock Delta Arm 3D printer” Ready for final print tests.

3D - “PrintRbot LC” - This 3D printer needs to be calibrated and test prints done.

3D - “RepRap” - This also needs to be calibrated and test prints done.

CNC - “ShapeOko CNC” New stepper motor controls are now here and need to be installed.

3D - “B9Creator” Getting a working print and settings with our DLP light 3D printer.

Drone - “Flight of the 3D printed quad copter drone” The drone needs to fly.

Help Needed - Organization and building of the Makerspace. Help is always appreciated but not required.

Community Help - Other members who may need help on their projects.

Website and listed equipment – Webmaster needed. Free membership for this job.

Equipment Operators – Host of the space runs the Makerbot, Corporate 3D printers, and Ultimaker.
