to Reserve Retirement @55
There are several military and veteran service organizations that are
and have been pushing for Reserve Components to receive credit for
their active service since 9-11 due to their increased involvement,
optempo and transition to an operational reserve. Congressman Joe
Wilson (R, SC) has already introduced HR.181 as well as HR.179 which
is for earlier retirement; he is also the new chairman of the House
Armed Services subcommittee on Military personnel. I recommend for
anyone in this group not doing so already to look into some veteran/
military organizations working this issue - Reserve Officers Assn
(ROA), Reserve Enlisted Assn (REA), Assn of the US Navy (AUSN) (used
to be Naval Reserve Association), Military Officers Assn of America
(MOAA), National Guard Assn of the US (NGAUS), Enlisted Assn of the
National Guard of the US (EANGUS), The Retired Enlisted Assn (TREA),
Naval Enlisted Reserve Assn (NERA), and the National Assn of Uniformed
Services (NAUS). I've worked for a couple of military service
organizations and they do good work, but require the support of
members because Congress listens their constituents.

HR.181 as well as HR.179 have nothing to do with Reserve retirement

This bill may develop legs. It may not. If it does, we could view it as a camel's nose under the tent wall, a stalking horse, etc. Perhaps the reality of demeaning prior 9/11 (Desert Storm anyone?)service will dawn on others.

It is for they too we might support HR181, but only as an installment and demonstration that the world will not fall apart if they do it for all Reservists' service.
