Does he or doesn't he? Only the President knows for sure.

What we do know is that serious allegations have surfaced
concerning President George W. Bush's competency to lead
the most powerful nation in history.

According to a senior Palestinian politician in an interview to be broadcast by the BBC later this month Mr Bush revealed the extent of his religious fervor when he met a Palestinian delegation during the Israeli-Palestinian summit at the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, four months after the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003 One of the delegates, Nabil Shaath, who was Palestinian foreign minister at the time, said: "President Bush said to all of us: 'I am driven with a mission from God'. God would tell me, 'George, go and fight these terrorists in Afghanistan'. And I did. And then God would tell me 'George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq'. And I did." http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/0,12271,1586978,00.html?gusrc=rss

Now, whether the President really believes that God is
speaking directly to him or not, is not the relevant issue.

Everyone is entitled to their own internal convictions,
and we have no way of knowing if any previous Presidents
felt that they had a direct line to or from 'The Big Guy'.

The difference is that if any of them did, they all had
the good judgment to not make those feelings known
to people outside their intimate circle. Therefore the
issue is not his spirituality, but his judgment.

The second issue is one of character. The President
represented to Congress and the American people
that he was convinced of a substantial threat to the
United States, due to the possession of weapons of
mass destruction by Iraq.

If the President concealed that his true motive for
leading the nation into a war which to date has cost
billions of dollars and over 2,000 American lives was
a God-Inspired crusade, or even a personal desire
to depose Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, then that
is misconduct of the highest order.

Denials through the White House apparatus will not
suffice. The President must speak directly to Congress
and the American people on this important issue
They deserve nothing less.
