Howdy everyone! It's that time of year again, where amazing design and development teams step up to compete with their Austinites to build an accessible Web site for a local non-profit. As many of our members can attest, the event is both fun and challenging, so please check it out and join or form a team!

Some more info:

Rally day is October 18th, 2008
Registration for non-profits and development teams is now open!

What is AIR-Austin?
The Accessibility Internet Rally (AIR-Austin) is an amazing event that brings designers, developers, non-profit groups and the Austin community together to network in a social, yet competitive setting. Its mission is to provide a great experience to learn about accessibility and make the Web a more accessible venue for information.

In 2007, more than 120 Web professionals teamed up to create 13 accessible Web sites for Austin-area non-profits – all in one day of friendly competition. Please take a few moments to review the excellent work that went into creating these and other sites from past AIR-Austin competitions.

Why should I sign up as a development team?

Whether you know nothing about accessibility or could write the book on it, you will have access to Web standards and accessibility training and amazing networking opportunities to share, learn, and have fun with other Web professionals in the Austin community. It also gives you the opportunity to help Austin non-profit organizations and the recognition you deserve for doing it! Register as a development team.

If you are ready to join the AIR-Austin effort, but need help finding a team or have specific questions about the AIR-Austin program, contact Teenya Franklin via email (tee...@knowbility.org) or by phone at 512-305-0311

Cheers,

Are there interested developers / designers in Refresh thinking about
participating in AIR Austin 2008? http://www.knowbility.org/air-austin

We had a Refresh team compete last year and from what I recall, the
client was very happy with the work done. I'll be helping out with the
event and, if my calendar holds out, I might be able to join a team.
Any Refreshers up for it?

Alex's original posting about AIR Austin is below. If anyone has
questions about the event in general, or is interested in a team, feel
free to post then to the list, let me know, or contact Teenya Franklin
(tee...@knowbility.org) or 512-305-0311.

Cheers!

Pat

Hi again, all.

I've gotten a response from a fellow Refresher interested in joining a
Refresh Austin team. Are there any more Refreshers interested? If so,
we could use 2 or 3 more for the first team and it'd be awesome if
Refresh Austin fielded two teams.

Let me know if you're a developer or designer interested in being a
part of the exciting and fulfilling experience that is AIR Austin.

Got any questions about it or interested in being part of the team, let me know.

Cheers!

Pat
