Dear list,

You now can find a new official version of RiC-O on GitHub, RiC-O 1.0.2.

You can either get it (using git pull) from the master branch to your local Git repository, or simply download the latest release (https://github.com/ICA-EGAD/RiC-O/releases/tag/v1.0.2).
Also, of course, you can access RiC-O 1.0.2 through the ontology IRI (https://www.ica.org/standards/RiC/ontology).

This release mainly fixes two bugs :
  • RiC-0 1.0 and 1.0.1 were inconsistent according to Pellet and HermiT reasoners. This inconsistency bug has been fixed, removing global reflexivity from the 48 rolification object properties (see issue #111 and PR #115);
  • the French labels of six object properties have been corrected (see issue #116 and PR #117).
Besides, a owl:versionIRI has been added to the ontology, in order to make it compliant with the OWL 2 specification as concerns ontology documents (see #112). This version IRI (https://www.ica.org/standards/RiC/ontology/1.0.2) can now be dereferenced, like the ontology IRI (https://www.ica.org/standards/RiC/ontology).

Thus, if you have already implemented RiC-O 1.0 and have RiC-O 1.0 data, you should rather move to this version, just because you would have a cleaner file. In the very specific case where your data includes instances of RiC-O Relation classes and rolification properties, _and_ where you use a DL reasoner, the reasoner will work and infer correct facts, which would not be the case if it reasons from RiC-O 1.0 or RiC-O 1.0.1.

If you plan to implement RiC-O, we recommend you choose this version.

We probably will soon start to work on a 1.1 version; we will of course use RiC-0 1.0.2 as a starting point.

This is excellent news! While working on a description logic paper, I noticed some issues with reasoners and consistency checks in Protege (at first, I thought I was doing something wrong, but I tried the same on a tiny test ontology I designed). I'm looking forward to trying the new version!   Excellent!
