Dear Friends,

Judge has sent us Report Two and Report Three:

http://www.rebuild-nicobar.blogspot.com

Highlights from the reports are below, from galvanizing protest
marches to organizing sports day for the youth to finding new
survivors. Most importantly, Judge is seeking donations of used and
new COMPUTERS to launch the development of the first Community Center
for the island, his long-term project, possible because of your
donations ($10,750 and rising).

*** COMMUNITY CENTER- Judge has drafted a plan to build a Community
Center with a computer learning lab, the first of its kind on the
island. The Center would bring people together to provide critical
services. Most importantly, the computer learning lab would enable
children to take classes through video-conferencing and earn
certificates. Education will be key to providing long-term support to
this community for generations to come. Judge is looking for a
permanent site for the Center. In the mean time, he is setting up a
temporary computer lab to launch the educational program for the
children.
--See Proposal and Report Three: http://www.rebuild-nicobar.blogspot.com

*** NEED DONATED COMPUTERS- Judge needs TEN COMPUTERS immediately, at
least Pentium 3 or better, to set up the computer learning lab. There
are 100 people in this online community; we need to find at least 10
computers among all of us. If you or your friends/co-workers have
computers to donate, or if you know of companies that would donate
even new computers, you can mail them to my parents' house and they
will ship them to Great Nicobar for you, without expense. Mail
computers to: Judge Singh Brar (For Computer Lab)/ 2779 Bullard Ave/
Clovis, CA 93611.

-- See Proposal: http://www.rebuild-nicobar.blogspot.com

* PROTEST MARCH- When Judge and his team were being forced to leave
the island along with other foreigners, the villagers rose up in
protest and led a march to the assistant commissioner's office. "If
you take him, we're going with him. He's given us hope..."
-- See Report Two: http://www.rebuild-nicobar.blogspot.com

* SURVIVOR FOUND- After 51 days, a Nicobari woman emerged from the
jungle having survived on pigs and coconuts. This has not yet reached
national news.
-- See Report Three: http://www.rebuild-nicobar.blogspot.com

* SPORTS DAY- Read about the day of games and fun organized by Judge
and the UNITED SIKHS team for the children on the island.
-- See Report Three: http://www.rebuild-nicobar.blogspot.com

* RESTORING THE GURDWARA- Read about the concrete work accomplished so
far by Judge and the team.

Good morning, everyone!

I just spoke with my dad on the phone and told him that we've already
received 2 offers for computers. I wish you could have heard the
excitement that reentered his voice. "People at home have already
started to donate their computers? This makes me believe we can do
this."

He only needs 10 computers to start the learning center for the
children on Great Nicobar Island. If we can get computers donated
instead of buying them, we can use your monetary donations (now at
$11,850) on the center's long-term operational costs.

Among the 100 of us on this list, might any of you donate your used
computers? OR place a simple query to your school, company,
classmates, co-workers, neighbors, baby-sitter, dentist? You can
forward this request:

NEED DONATED COMPUTERS-- Post-Tsunami Development Project

Judge Singh Brar, with the non-profit UNITED SIKHS, is working on
Great Nicobar, an island in the Indian Ocean devestated by the
tsunami, to build a Community Center with a computer learning lab for
the children-- the first of its kind. This computer lab would
transform the educational opportunities for these children, making a
long-lasting impact rebuilding their lives after the tsunami. We
need at least ten computers immediately, at least Pentium 3 or better,
used or new, to set up the lab. If you mail your donated computer to
the following address, we will ship it to Great Nicobar:

Judge S. Brar (Computer Lab for G. Nicobar)
2779 Bullard Ave
Clovis, CA 93611
