Today was the last day to purchase discounted earlybird tickets to
Raleigh Can't Stop the Serenity 2008. The tickets go up to $15 per
person per night, and $26 for the two-night package on June 1.
So far, we've sold almost half the Sunday night tickets, and almost
25% of the tickets for Monday night. Based on previous years, I'd say
this means that we will sell out Sunday night by mid-June, and will
probably have tickets available at the door on Monday. But that's good
-- there are always lots of folks who wait until the last minute, and
those folks missed out in 2006 an 2007. Adding another night with a
second screening, means they'll get a chance to attend, too! :^)
And we DO have reels. There was a possibility that we'd have to show a
DVD, because Universal destroyed several reels of SERENITY here in the
states. But they brought in more from other English-speaking
countries, the UK, Australia, etc., and we WILL have movie reels of
the "big damn movie."
We've also got lots of shiny raffle prizes this year, including a
bobble head geisha doll (see FIREFLY episode "Trash" if you don't get
that reference!), a "Women of the 'Verse" prize bucket, a Wilco prop
replica of a grenade, QMx "bank heist" money packs, a Monkeyshines
replica of Saffron's "brawling" Trash necklace (Exclusive to the
Raleigh screening!), and more! Plus a "Mal's shooting gallery" game --
do you have what it takes to make a stand against the Reavers?
And Monday night, the first 50 people through the door can feel like
the king of Londinium and wear a shiny hat, in honor of Joss Whedon's
birthday. AND there will be complimentary birthday cake!
Keep flying!
