It may seem a bit early to start talking about the Raleigh screening
of SERENITY, but it's only 5 months away, and trust me, it will go by
fast!

We (myself and the committee helping me this year) will need to...

1) ... Lock in the dates/times with our venue, Raleighwood. They are
willing to have us again this year, but we need to discuss exactly
when - and whether we will be able to do TWO showings of SERENITY this
year.

2) ... Decide what is going to happen at both screenings, if we have
two. Costume contests at both? Prizes at both? Perhaps one will be a
"gala" event with festivities and cost $20 a ticket, while the other
will be just the movie for $10 a ticket? Will they happen at the same
time (Raleighwood has two theaters), or on two different nights? Lots
of ideas to consider.

3) ... Begin accepting sponsors and donations.

4) ... Design and print the tickets. Tickets went on sale April 21,
last year, and were sold out the week before the event.

5) ... Figure out what merchandise will be sold this year, and then
sell it. Last year, the national level CSTS coordinators had T-shirts
and posters printed for all participating venues, which were sold via
pre-orders and at the screening itself. At the local level, we sold
souvenirs which included plastic dinosaurs, firefly candy, blue gloves
and more, in 2007. This year, Raleigh also has the possibility of
offering some custom-made lapel pins, pendants, and other items.

6) ... Continually update the event website
http://raleighshindig.blogspot.com as new information comes along.

7) ... Promote the event, email 2007 ticket-buyers, contact the local
media, and spread the word throughout the cortex -- I mean, Internet.
:^) Possibly design and distribute fliers.

8) ... Keep up with the on-going discussions and proclamations at the
CSTS Yahoo Group, which includes all of the screening coordinators
around the world.

Much work to be done. Anyone with any ideas about this year's event,
or who want to be on the event committee, please feel free to email me
directly at RaleighB...@gmail.com .

Keep flying!
