[RTLW] [SPECIAL] Spring Megameetup 2026 -- May 9th at Ponysaurus

Dear Research-Triangle Rats and Rat-adjacents,
This is the official announcement of the Rat Meetup Of Unusual Size (also known as ACX Meetups Everywhere, or the megameetup for short). See the main ACX post for context
The megameetup will be in about two and a half weeks, at Ponysaurus Brewing in Durham.
- When: Saturday, May 9th, 2 PM – 6 PM
- Where: 219 Hood St, Durham, NC 27701, (Presumably on the north side of the lawn)

- What: The plan, essentially, is to hang out at the picnic tables, eat some pizza, and socialize.
If you're reading this, I hope that you decide to come. If you're an ACX reader, a rationalist, an effective altruist, post-rationalist, or involved in some adjacent community, or just interested in meeting people who fit that description, we'd love to have you. (Not an exhaustive list.) If you're expecting everyone else to be from some specific age range/demographic group/social background, or have some specific political persuasion/prior knowledge/personality type, you're probably wrong. All are welcome.
How to stay updated:- Any updates or changes will go out to this newsletter, where I'll also post our future meetups

- There is a public calendar of events, see the bottom of this email for instructions on how to subscribe
- Officially the event will be 2 PM – 6 PM. I'm expecting attendance to peak around 3 PM
- These things usually go 3–4 hours, but we'll see how long people stick around. After-parties aren't unheard of.
- If you're coming late and want to know if things are still going on, feel free to message this mailing list and/or email me directly and/or message the discord
- There will be food. Ponysaurus serves food, I'll be ordering a bunch of pizza and appetizers
- You're not technically supposed to bring outside food in, but if you're inclined to bring something that should be fine as long as it's not too brazen
- Feel free to message me about dietary restrictions. There will be some vegan options, but it's not their specialty
- Ponysaurus serves beer. It's pretty good beer.
- They are open to all ages though, for any minors or parents who are wondering. Small children won't be out of place
- There should be plenty of seating and shade
- If we're not obvious enough, look for an 8.5x11 sign that says "ACX Meetup" and a stack of pizza boxes
- The parking lot may fill up, but there's a parking structure near 257 S Elizabeth St (between Ramseur and E Main) that seems to be free as far as we can tell.
- In case of rain, we have a backup indoor venue at Hi-Wire (800 Taylor St, a few blocks away)
- Check the mailing list if it comes to that. If the rain is minor enough we may stay at Ponysaurus.
