Love blossoms when two hearts meet each other.
The catch is that hearts meet with great difficulty.
Reflection
Like a golfer seeking the perfect swing, or a card player wishing for the perfect hand, we spend our lives looking for the perfect love.
But do we find it?
Most of us, especially those of us who have had/are part of steady marriages will say that love is all about compromise.
But is it really?
Marriage, and in fact all human relationships are about compromise. In order to endure, relationships require the acceptance of flaws and imperfections.
If you seek the perfect companion, you are bound to be disappointed. But if you are willing to compromise, adjust, forgive, forget and see things from the other person's perspective you will, with luck, forge a strong relationship. And hopefully, develop great camaraderie.
Once the spirit of companionship is fostered, you will have fun. Life will seem like an adventure.
Life is not a bed of roses. It just isn't. Whether your last name is Gates, or Tata or Premji or Ambani, you are constantly faced with challenges. No one's life is all smooth sailing. Storms keep brewing.
Our dreams, hopes and plans get shattered from time to time. But having a companion and confidant to share it all with alleviates the pain…and makes the fun parts twice as enjoyable!
When we meet failure, some of us get up, brush off the dirt and try again. Others lose heart. Is it always better to persevere rather than give up?
Sometimes, it is better to recognise a dead end and change one's route. At other times, one needs to keep pushing till something gives.
How do you figure out which option is the right one? I do not know.
Life keeps posing questions. Some are easy to deal with. Others seem impossible to answer. Such is life.
