OFFICIAL MINUTES OF MARCH 28, 2007

The monthly meeting of the Ramona Outback Amateur Radio Society
(ROARS), met at the Community Room of The Ramona Public Library at
1406 Montecito Road, Ramona California 92065. The officers/directors
who were present are listed with an asterisk (*):

Cleveland KG6FWO, (Vice President)

KJ6TDC, (Secretary)

KF6AUP, (Net Mgr.)
* Chuck Carlson KD6RSQ, (Repeater Trustee) * Ian Pedlow KG6WZG, (Net
Control)

An additional eight persons were in attendance including three
visitors.

1. MEETING CONVENED AT 7:04 P.M. Having met quorum, President
Richard Elling convened the meeting and the Pledge of Allegiance was
recited. He then called for officer reports.

2. PRESIDENTS REPORT : Richard Elling gave no report.

3. VICE PRESIDENTS REPORT: Randy Cleveland said the web site is
being updated by Sandy Stoddard and she is doing a great job. If
anyone has any ideas to make the site better, to be sure and let Sandy
know. Sandy arrived just before the meeting to drop off some stuff,
but she did not stay since she did not want to pass her bad cold onto
anyone else.

4. TREASURER'S REPORT: Lee Pedlow said the balance until tonight was
$2987.23. The expenses were $15.63. The income was $52.00. He just
received the repeater batteries' receipt so next month he will have
the $200+ bill included in his report.

5. SECRETARY'S REPORT: Tom Carmody said the minutes of the last
meeting are posted on the Google page and he brought a copy to view if
anyone wanted to see them.

6. NET MANAGER'S REPORT: Don Scott was absent. Ian Pedlow said the
net is going good and we are getting about twelve to fifteen people
checking in weekly.

7. REPEATER TRUSTEE'S REPORT: Chuck Carlson said he received the
new repeater batteries but has not installed them yet. The weather
and high winds have delayed him. He said last weekend they had a CERT
work party and managed to get several radios and antennas installed in
the CERT trailer. The trailer is normally housed at Fire Station #81
but we may get to move it to FS #82.

A question came up why ROARS does not share a trailer with CERT to
avoid having to duplicate expensive radio equipment. Richard said the
CERT trailer has strings attached since much of the funding for it
comes from Homeland Security money. We do not want any strings on
ROARS equipment that tells us how we can use it.

8. OLD BUSINESS: President Elling spoke about the T-Hunt we had at
Dos Picos Park. You missed a lot of fun and good food if you were not
able to attend. Chuck Carlson spoke about the county wide T-Hunts
that occur every month. He gave some dates and locations.

9. NEW BUSINESS: President Elling said we have several events
coming up. This Saturday is the TRW Swap Meet. We meet in the
parking lot near the Bank of America at 0530 and car pool up.

On April 12-14, ROARS will have a camp out at Hidden Valley over near
Ocotillo Wells. Chuck Carlson is the contact person for more
details.

A CERT Academy will be held in Ramona and it should start around the
end of May. There are no official dates set yet. Watch for details
on ROARS or CERT Google Group pages. It is unknown if fees will be
charged to attend the academy yet. Those details will be posted when
they are known.

Randy Cleveland introduced his guest Eric Hutchins, K7ELH, who gave
ROARS a very interesting slide show presentation on SKYWARN and what
it does for the community. You can reach Eric at k7...@yahoo.com.
The SKYWARN Nets used to be on the ECRA repeater but they are now on
the RACES repeater. To look at the SKYWARN web site, go to www.swskywarn.org.

10. NEXT MEETING: The forth Wednesday of the month which is April
25, 2007. The May meeting will be at Chucks house. It will be the
ROARS Annual Auction and will include a BBQ. More details will
follow. The meeting was adjourned at 7:56 p.m.

Respectfully Submitted,

Thomas D. Carmody, Secretary
