RNHA Membership and Friends
Thank you for your support throughout the years. For as much as we try to stay united in times of distress, there are times that a small few are not able to resolve their differences with the majority. In those cases, we simply agree to disagree.
Having said that, it has come to the attention of the ILRNHA majority that the former chair has somehow declared himself to be a winner in this past weekend’s RNHA convention. This is unfortunate.
The RNHA of Illinois does not recognize Rafael’s illegitimate executive board. I understand how there could be confusion because Mr. Rivanedeira retains control of the state website. He has been the only RNHA member since 2006 who is able to access it and make changes. We have asked him to turn over the website as part of the transition. Furthermore, we have asked the treasurer, Jose Jorge, also loyal to Mr. Rivanedeira, to turn over all bank accounts and ILRNHA documentation within 30 days so as to comply with the state bylaws. We are hoping for a smooth transition.
The unfortunate events yesterday were representative of a disruptive individual and small group of supporters in an attempt to stay in power. Mr. Rivanedeira, Mrs. Campos and Olga Pereira all stormed out of executive session in the morning and attempted to hand over control of the state convention to a non RNHA member Parliamentarian. The rest of the executive board (11 and enough for a quorum) stayed behind. The executive board remaining voted to move the state convention to the Loveland Center, still within Dixon Illinois, in order to maintain the peace and separate ourselves from the disruptive individuals. All delegates, members and guests were given written directions to the new facility so that they may participate in the continuation of the convention. With the absence of Temporary Chair Gabriella Wyatt, 2nd Vice Chair Rene Hernandez assumed control of the convention and announced to the membership that we would reconvene at the Loveland Center.
Over 30 people, that is 2/3rds of the attending membership relocated to the Loveland Center. It is my understanding that those loyal to Mr. Rivanedeira, 13 in total, stayed behind and conducted illegitimate, unrecognized and unofficial convention proceedings.
It is important to note the following facts regarding Mr. Rivanedeira’s illegitimate state executive board:
Rafael Rivanedeira: Not a member in good standing with his home county Chapter in DuPage and is ineligible for state office.
John Guevara: Not eligible to hold state office. He has only been a member since June 2010 or 8 months. The state bylaws (Article VII Section 4) require all state officers be members in good standing for 1 year.
G.G. Garcia: Not eligible to hold state office. He has only been a member since Feb 2011 or 0 months. The state bylaws (Article VII Section 4) require all state officers to be members in good standing for 1 year.
Olga Pereira: Not eligible to hold county or state office as she is a resident of Washington DC as she works for the Obama Administration in the US Department of Transportation. Bylaws require that each state holding officer reside within their home chapter boundaries.
When the official RNHA State Convention resumed at the Loveland Center, 7 of 10 counties were present and we established that we had enough delegates for a quorum. The vote for our new officers was unanimous!
I would also like to share with you the new executive board, headed by Steve Orlando, has been recognized by 7 of 10 RNHA Illinois county chapters.
Additionally, former ILRNHA State Chairs Gilbert Ruiz and Joseph Galvan have recognized our new executive board as well.
Furthermore, we invited senior and independent Republican Party Officials to the convention proceedings, I would like to note that all of the following party and elected officials were present at the continuation of the convention at the Loveland Center:
- RNC Secretary and National Committeewoman Demetra Demonte
- State Senator Tim Bivins and former Sherriff of the hosting Lee County
- State Representative Robert Prichard
All three elected and party officials addressed the convention. The former two oversaw the election proceedings.
Friends, the choice to get to this Hispanic vote is clear. The group that represents the largest number of Hispanics, the largest republicans and the largest number of RNHA members is one and only official RNHA headed by Steve Orlando.

In conclusion, let us hope Mr. Rivanedeira and his small group of supporters recognize the will of the overwhelming majority. We thank them for their hard work and need them to make the RNHA stronger!
