Senator Ted Cruz Meets With Hispanic Republicans in DuPage County
State Senators Kirk Dillard and Bill Brady Among Attendees at RNHA Reception
Illinois – Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) attended a reception hosted by the DuPage County chapter of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly (RNHA) and Illinois RNHA Chairman, Steve Orlando. Cruz addressed the group of about 50 at the Oak Brook Marriott Hotel briefly before delivering the keynote address at the DuPage Lincoln Day Dinner, sponsored by the DuPage County Republican Central Committee where over 600 republicans were assembled.
Senator Cruz thanked the roomful of Hispanic republicans for being so active and involved with turning our country around before taking the time to meet and take photos with assembled RNHA members.
Dupage County RNHA Chairwoman, Evelyn Pacino Sanguinetti, was impressed by the turnout. "DuPage county has a large Hispanic community and this RNHA chapter continues to grow monthly. Senator Cruz graciously visited with us and encouraged us to keep working to grow our organization," said Pacino Sanguinetti.
"We are honored that the esteemed Senator took the time to meet with members of the RNHA. His personal story echoes that of many families immigrated to the U.S. and Hispanics around the country," said Steve Orlando.
During his address to the DuPage Republicans, Senator Cruz highlighted the keys to increased growth in America, all of which are cornerstones of the republican platform. He had high praise for Mitt Romney's campaign slogan, 'You Built That', but offered, "How much better would it have been if Romney had said, 'You Can Build That'?"
"Republicans everywhere, but especially in Illinois, have an uphill climb. Principled leaders like Senator Cruz remind us that the hard work we do is not in vain, and they teach us ways to do it better. It's clear that we need more leaders like Senator Cruz in the republican party, and the RNHA is committed to help make that happen," stated Orlando.
The ILRNHA has previously hosted guests such as candidate for Texas Land Commissioner, George P. Bush and former U.S. Attorney General, Alberto Gonzalez. The organization has continued to grow in Illinois in counties with large Hispanic populations such as Cook, Will, Kane, and DuPage.
