Hello Everyone,

This Saturday, 24 October, members of the organization, 350.org, have coordinated a global climate day of action, where more than 3,700 events have been planned in more than 160 countries.  These actions are in conjunction to promote the number 350 ppm, the measure of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere that is known to be the cutting point to safely sustain life on Earth for future generations.

Local organizations are taking action throughout Rhode Island and joining the 24 October movement.  They are listed below.

Rally at Waterplace Park from 12pm - 2pm - we will be sending a message to our national and international leaders that 350 ppm of carbon dioxide is the goal for international climate negotiations.

We will be making an impact locally by marking the 5 foot sea level rise high tide line all around Waterplace Park and inviting kids and adults to display their photos and posters.

The rally will feature speakers from across the community and a choir with drumming, singing and chanting. We will also attempt to make a human constructed number 350. Please bring your posters and other artwork!

Other Rhode Island events include:
9:00 am - Workshops on climate issues and media at the First Unitarian Church on Benefit Street in Providence with letter writing.

12:00pm - Gathering on Easton's Beach in Newport with music and the launch of the neighborhood energy challenge.

2:00pm - Talk by climate activist Christine Muller at Peacedale Congregational Church in Wakefield with bell ringing throughout southern RI.

E-mail me if you have further questions.  See you there!

Cheers,

Michael Roles
