The time for registering for the New England Conference of the Parties on Climate Change is here! And we need you!
The Massachusets-based
Students for a Just and Stable Future (SJSF) have partnered with Wesleyan University for their
Conference on Pricing Carbon (the Conference runs from
19-21 November) to take advantage of their amazing lineup of speakers -- including members of Congress, climate activists, and even a digital appearance by Al Gore! We will also be carving out time to write our first-ever youth-led New England-wide Declaration for Clean Energy. This declaration will be delivered to policy leaders and heads of state in Cancun, Mexico at
COP 16 (
United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) so that our student voice will be heard.
Fortunately, because of our partnership with SJSF, students that register
with the Rhode Island Student Climate Coalition (RISCC) only have to pay a $40 registration fee -- down from $125 for all other visiting students. But there are only 15 spots for students in RI at the discounted rate, so register now! We also have financial aid available for those that cannot afford the $40 registration fee -- if you need financial assistance, please send an email to ristudentcli...@gmail.com by Sunday, 7 November with the amount of assistance you need & a paragraph about why you want to be at the conference. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, IT IS IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER NOT TO REGISTER ON THE CONFERENCE WEBSITE UNTIL YOU RECEIVE A REPLY TO YOUR E-MAIL REQUEST FOR FINANCIAL AID.
If you do not need financial aid, here's how to register:
Interested students should visit
http://www.pricingcarbon.org/about.html to learn more about the conference and to Register (under the Logistics tab). The registration page now includes a special link for all SJSF/RISCC students to discount the registration fee to $40. Do NOT click the travel scholarship button -- if you do, you won't get the discount.
Transportation and Board:
The Conference fee includes meals for the weekend. In order to ensure that our entire delegation has a free ride up, free housing, and stays together and organized, please also fill out the RISCC registration form:
